Earlier this month, the South County High School (“SCHS”) Indoor Drumline participated in the “WGI:  Sport of the Arts Percussion World Championships” in Dayton, Ohio.  SCHS Indoor Drumline is the first drumline in the Commonwealth of Virginia to be eligible to participate at the World Class level in the Championships.  In the past, school drumlines have competed in the A Class or Open Class, but no Virginia drumline has ever qualified to compete at the World Class level.  Not only was SCHS Drumline the first to compete at this highest level, SCHS Indoor Drumline made the finals in the World Class level.  Even though SCHS competed against other teams that have been in the World Class level for as many as twenty years, SCHS moved on to the Final Round, scoring fifteenth in the world!
