Outstanding Teacher of the Year
Congratulations to Social Studies Teacher Ilan Chiprut who has been recognized as Outstanding Teacher of the Year for our Pyramid.
Mr. Chiprut has been teaching for 18 years, all of which have been with FCPS. He came to South County the year the school opened. He is currently teaching World History 1 and is a sponsor to the Chess Club and Board Gaming Club.
Sue Funesti, former South County Social Studies Department chair (now retired), shared the following: “In terms of understanding the individual needs of students, encouraging their talents and fostering their self-esteem, Ilan is a master of interpreting student behavior and working diligently and unceasingly to pull students into the classwork and subject matter.”
Mr. Chiprut has touched the hearts and minds of hundreds of students over the years and still gets many visitors to this day. We are proud to have Mr. Chiprut as a part of the Stallion family and are excited about this special recognition. We wish him the best as he moves on to the next round for Region consideration.
Special thanks to Dennis Bennett for all of his hard work with the nomination process by serving as this year's awards liaison.
