On February 10, SOCO's blue and green were set aside so that PURPLE could reign for the day - Students were asked to wear purple on Friday, February 10,  in honor of P.S. I Love You Day, a national program that encourages people to stand up against bullying, help end depression, and ultimately prevent suicide. P.S. On February 10, a large purple "P.S. I Love You" sign, shimmering with glitter, greeted students as they walked through the front doors of SCHS. The entryway of South County High School was decorated with purple banners, encouraging messages written on purple sticky notes and windows, tulle, and handwritten note cards with various positive messages. A few weeks before February 10th,  students were asked, during Advisory, to participate in making the day even more special by writing words of encouragement and positive messages on  purple notecards decorated with hearts. The cards were then collected and taped throughout our hallways. The messages brought smiles and encouragement to all that read them. 

Thank you to our SCHS leadership classes for spreading the word about this special day and staging/decorating our school. Ms. Peck, SCHS Leadership teacher, was a "rockstar "with organizing this project and encouraging our teachers and students to participate in writing words of encouragement to spread joy around our school. 

Many of our students and staff wore purple to stand united on bringing attention to such an important message of suicide prevention - SOCO lets make a habit of sharing positive messages, uplifting and encouraging others, and reminding one another that "you are never alone."
