Dear South County High School Students, Parents, and Staff,

The Region 4 Office is pleased to announce that Mr. Gary Morris has been named the new principal for South County High School, effective August 16, 2018.

Mr. Morris brings a wealth of knowledge and experience (back) to South County High School, having served as a founding member of the administrative team as an assistant principal when the school first opened (2005-2009).  He also served for five years as assistant principal at Mountain View High School where he was promoted to principal in 2015. He was also a nominee for the Region 4 First-Year Principal of the Year Award.  Mr. Morris is a strong instructional leader who believes in promoting best practices for teaching and learning.  He builds relationships with staff, students, parents and community members and has demonstrated his strong ability to create, support and maintain a positive and collaborative culture wherever he has worked.

Mr. Morris holds a Bachelor’s degree from Norfolk State University in Electronics Technology, a Master’s degree from Norfolk State University in Technology Education and an Education Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.  Throughout his tenure with FCPS, he has remained abreast of the latest trends in education and teacher leadership by attending workshops and becoming well-rounded in all aspects of best practice instruction.

It gives me great pleasure to welcome Mr. Gary Morris back to South County High School. He looks forward to meeting with students, faculty/staff, families and the community as we begin the new school year. You will see him in the halls during the Stallion Stampede on August 22nd. Additional opportunities to meet and greet Mr. Morris will be announced in future communications.

Sincerely,

Angela Atwater, Ed. D.

Assistant Superintendent, Region 4
