South County HS Receives the 2023-2024 Purple Star Award for being recognized as a school that exhibits excellence in supporting military-connected children and their families.

The SoCo Orchestras from our pyramid Elementary, Middle and High schools performed the annual Masquerade Concert on Thursday, 10/26. It was a packed house (and stage) with over 300 students participating.

On Saturday, October 28th, the Marching Stallions traveled to Lynchburg to compete in the VMBC State Championships Event. The group placed 2nd in their preliminary group out of 8 groups, taking home the caption awards for best percussion and best colorguard. Congratulations to the band on a great end to their season!

Several SCHS Musicians auditioned for Senior Regional Orchestra, All State Jazz, and Senior Honors Choir this past month.  These auditions are highly competitive and require a great deal of preparation on the students’ part.  The students pictured were selected for these prestigious groups and will go on to perform in November. 

SOCO Homecoming Week transports us to a "Night in Paris" - Exciting decorations and activities are taking over SCHS and will end with a great football matchup and dance.

Once again, Señora Doris Straughn and her Spanish students did an outstanding job decorating our school to celebrate the great contributions of individuals of Hispanic Heritage to our country and their communities.

South County High School guitar students participated in the 1000 Global Guitar Ensemble as part of the World Culture Festival on the National Mall in Washington DC on Friday, September 29.

The SCHS Marching Band competed on Saturday, September 30 in the Herndon Classic  at Herndon High School. The band took 3rd place and Best Percussion.

Congratulations to English Teacher Lucy Anne Blesi on her recognition as the FCPS 2023 Region 4 Outstanding Secondary School New Teacher at this year's FCPS Honors event, held at George Mason University Center for the Arts on June 14th.

On Saturday, June 3, a reception was given to honor and showcase talented artists (Kindergarten - 12th Grade) from our South County Pyramid. Artwork will be on display from May 27 - June 11.
